Juneteenth is a day all Americans should recognize and celebrate. Actual Emancipation was not that long ago and the ugly history of slavery in this country cannot be forgotten or erased. Neither can the many achievements of black people that have built this country. One contribution close to our hearts is that of Augustus Jackson. After working as a chef in the White House in the 1820s he left to become a confectioner in Philadelphia. He pioneered techniques to control freezing of the ice cream base in a way that lead to modern manufacturing methods, packing and distribution. He would go on to be one of the wealthiest men in Philadelphia. Many of the flavors he invented are on our production list right now...strawberry and mint. He invented MINT ICE CREAM!! So today support the #blackownedbusinesses that contribute so much to our community. #juneteenth

One of the hardest things to do when you’re struggling is to ask for help sometimes. This couple had the strength to ask for help from their community... and we’d like to help too. A photographer/ videographer pair who struggled loss of income from all of the events being canceled. They are NYC residents so they got hit especially hard with Covid. They are facing homelessness at the end of the month unless they raise 8k.
